White Slave Huts
A Little Island History
We traveled to the southern end of the island and stopped at the White Slave Huts. These tiny, picturesque structures stood in perfect rows right along the beach. Nice digs if you didn't mind being pressed into service building salt pans and cultivating fields.

Bonaire was wonderful in that it allowed its historical sites to stand as a mute testimony to its heritage – free for all to observe and reflect upon. At present, we found the islanders very friendly and most of the inhabitants appeared to be living comfortably. There was no visible homelessness or poverty stricken areas. It was a very blissful island to visit.
